Walldorf, Germany, July 14th, 2009:
By leveraging the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol – ICAP – to integrate virus scan engines from leading vendors with SAP NetWeaver-based application, BowBridge seeks to emphase the importance of ICAP as a standard for enterprise security.
Enterprises ought to check file uploads into SAP portal applications – such as eRecruiting, SRM or Knowledge Management (KMC) – for viruses and other malware. Conventional virus protection is not capable of detecting and blocking malicious code in these uploads, allowing potentially infected files to be stored in the database.
“The risk of infecting internal or external users with compromized files stored in SAP databases is significant, as today's malware even hides in office documents and PDF files”, says Andrea Simon, Manager Sales and Marketing at BowBridge. “Our customers appreciate BowBridge's strategy to leverage ICAP to integrate third party virus scan engines, as it gives them choice amongst several leading security vendors. It also enables enterprise class features such as high availability and load balancing. Even switching the antivirus vendor has no impact on the functionality on the SAP side.”
AntiVirus Bridge for SAP Solutions, BowBridge's SAP-certified solution can be integrated with ICAP capable products from Aladdin, Dr. Web, McAfee, Kaspersky, Symantec and Trend Micro. It compatible with NetWeaver04 and NetWeaver7 and is available for HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows and Sun Solaris.
